Basketcase
Basketcase
I can see them coming up
The walk. They look
Predatorily dangerous
White teeth flashing like a shark’s.
Even through the hazy filter my
Cigarette plume makes,
I can sense their shifty eyes
Glaring at me behind tinted glasses.
Bulges under their jackets
Outline their disdain for me.
Dressed in shirts pressed so stiff
It appears they support their owners.
I’m surprised it took them
Until today to act.
The smell is already acrid
Enough that I taste it with each swallow.
The front door suddenly slams
Open with enough force to knock
It off the hinges. Glass and wood
Fly in a menagerie of shrapnel.
They bark orders at me like
Two overzealous pitbulls.
I slide my hand under my chair
Until I feel the sensual grip
Of my .45 and all hell breaks loose.

I liked it, there was some excellent imagery. The word choice didn't hit me with as much power as I would have liked--the voice seemed very soothing and subdued.

Michael, again you go scaring me. Remind me to wear a bullet proof vest if we are ever out together (laughing). Interesting write in that violent kind of way.

Achilles-
Thank you for the comments. Yes, the voice was subdued. I was trying to picture what a nutjob would do when fear made him have a shred of sanity.
Nae-
Bulletproof vest? Nah. But you are easy to scare, lol. I've told you already Phantasm boxed set and a box of popcorn. I dont like venturing into public much. Hermit kind of thing, I don't care for many people.
Thank you both for stopping by.

I used to chase my older sister through the house after watching nightmare on elm street with her. I had the glove with blades, the hat, and mask. She never would go down into the basement after that one night...poor girl.

Nae,
Yeah, but she was a sibling. I like to think I have grown above and beyond that. Haha.

Vodka-
thanks for the compliments and for stopping by! I usually tend to write the trippy stuff a little easier than other things.
