a girl with a name

lost
in her dirty hair
i want to write her name in the sand
to watch it vanish in the waves
her face glowed in the darkened theater
the feet between us grow into miles
an arms length is now a lifetime
she dreams of elephants
she speaks in rhymes and riddles
newspapers scuttling at her feet
as if the ground is alive with spiders
eating at her fleshy body
spinning a web between us
i’m stuck there
in it’s sticky fibers
they tug at my skin
i watch it redden and blister
she’s can’t see it but it’s holding her too
why else isn’t she moving

I'm not certain I understand this poem bettyb, nevertheless, I felt something as I read it and liked the lines:

she dreams of elephants
she speaks in rhymes and riddles
newspapers scuttling at her feet

This was image making and I love when that happens in poetry. Nice. warm regards huni.

I really liked the images also. They were really cool. But I'm not sure I understand either.

I really love the "she dreams of elephants"

I really like the imagery as previously mentioned, particularly how it all seems to apply to the one scene/moment yet uses words outside of that ('darkened theater, elephants' etc.)..

i'm guessing it's about a girl who drowned, or maybe she went crazy 'speaks in rhymes and riddles... as if the ground were alive with spiders', kind've hard to tell
