Mr Sandman

It's 3 a.m and I can't sleep,
the curtains are askew,
there is no breeze, no sign of wind,
no raindrops in the view.

I'm tired out like God knows what,
and yet I can't dose off,
the sounds I hear are amplified,
like Daddy's little cough.

And who's to blame? Oh no, not me,
I'm trying my very best
to lay in bed and close my eyes,
and finally get some rest.

But still the ticking clock I hear,
as clear as I probably can,
I think I know why I'm awake,
Someone waylaid Mr Sandman.

Someone waylaid Mr Sandman,
I've lost my trip to La La Land,
I'll be awake till 8 a.m
Cos' someone waylaid Mr Sandman.

My pillow's up to maximum puff
but still feels like a board.
This is worse than noisy bugs,
or grampa, when he snored.

I'd pay a million bucks right now,
to finally fall asleep,
and also for an extra hour
my alarm doesnt beep.

Mr Sandman, wherever you are,
waylaid you may be,
just get your lazy butt out here,
and put your spell on me.

Someone waylaid Mr Sandman,
I've lost my trip to La La Land,
I'll be awake till 8 a.m
Cos' someone waylaid Mr Sandman.

Very cute, I smiled all the way through it. The meter is a little rough in spots, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of reading it.

I imagined the girl from www.countyoursheep.com saying that poem. It was nice.
