Is This A Knife

I wrote this years ago, so go easy
__________________________________________________ ___________

I s this a knife I see before me?
Glinting evil in the night?
Death in waiting, life in taking
Why does it rest inside my hand?
This symbol of the darkness
in mens hearts

Yet still I raise it above my head
Intent clear to all who see
Like a thunderbolt it falls
slicing the air like a razor
Time slows its flow
as if to shame me further

It slips inside his chest
slicing through flesh
with disturbing ease
The blood wells up
covering me
with the scent of death
It lives within me now

i like it

it reminds me of the scene in macbeth where he sees the dagger before him.

Nice work, chilling. So brutal ...

I actually got the idea from Macbeth (despite not having read but I've picked up the plotline from references)
