Two Seasons

There’s still snow on Big Bear Mountain only 30 miles away.
But down here it’s in the 80s almost every single day.
It’s still two months ‘til summer; I guess it’s pretty clear,
That we’re going to have another pretty wicked one this year.

I kind of miss the east coast and the changing of the seasons,
I’m not exactly sure why, but I guess I have my reasons.
There’s something kind of magical about a winter’s snow,
But I don’t think that I’d miss it when it’s 10 degrees below.

In southern California, it’s two seasons that we’ve got,
It’s either warm and sunny or else sunny and hot.
We sometimes get a little rain, but usually not enough,
And it’s triple digits in the summer, and that gets real rough.

Summer, fall and winter doesn’t mean that much to me,
Out here they should just call it season A and season B.
Season A (the nine months that you’re outside mowing grass),
Season B (inside the house just sitting on your ass.)

been there, done that, tossed the t-shirts!

so, you know big bear, huh?... in my old, old life, i lived in just about any town you can name in the LA area, plus down to la jolla/san diego/coronado, and all the way out to riverside and palm springs... thought i'd left smog behind when i came up here from altadena, last winter... then i learned toronto's version killed off more than 5,700 last year!

i'm not gonna say 'thanks for the memories' this time, kiddo... but it's a fun poem, all the same...

hugs, m

Yikes, I don't think the smog killed that many people here in Riverside.
