Invitation (a fragment or not)
Will you come and journey with the author,
traversing time and space, Imagination -
of things real or conjured in the mind
when the wattle blossoms dance in the wind,
the birdcalls and the dingo's howling....
in that hour of phrases catching, we shall
see the wonder of life itself unfolding
.

thanks Alice, i am trying to get the writer/poetic persona to interact and engage the reader. One day this may lead to an epic like the Illiad or something.... But that's too far down the road to even imagine at this stage.

Sounds like we've got another Ozzie in the house, do you know Journeyman? Anyway I like this. It conjurs up an assortment of vivid images in my minds eye. Nicely done.

Yep, yep!
But I do not know Journeyman.... He lives in a different state from me.
And when I read his work, I feel there is a need to get acquainted.... mmmm.....

I like the mix of space & nature here, from the vast & unknown to the intimate detail of the bush. Nicely written too.
I've been told I'm not easy to know but g'day arkayye. Glad you enjoy my writing.
& yes, dingoes howl. Not quite the full-throated 'call of the wild' wolf howl but pretty effective.
I'd love to wander with the author if it's to a place like you describe. I love to sit out in the bush & let it soak in. If you give it time, you start to see & hear things all around that you never get when you just walk through.
Sitting on mountain is pretty good for the soul as well. (mine anyway)

I have a fair bit of driving to do to get anywhere near as pristine as you can to commune with self and nature. The eastern seaboard is chockfull of people... hehehehe.... But I know what you mean. You might say I'm a country bumpkin at heart but was born, reared, and still live in the big smoke. The compromise is to live in the uttermost suburbs on the fringes of the bush.... a vain attempt to capture the best of both worlds.
IT is my belief that to take in and enjoy the writers work is to begin to know the writer. It's getting two good things for the price of one, really.
Funny you speak of mountains. In August, I will camp out and scale the second highest peak in the Southern Highlands - that will be pretty good for my soul! Actually we're doing that on horseback too....
Gotta take the pen and paper and camera up there.
