Giving up my adult title

Life in constant motion,
people walk around
dreary eyed,
blank stares,
showing no sign of hope,
fake, sad, dreamless faces.

Today I submit my resignation to
adulthood.
Two week notice? My ass!

Why walk when I can run,
skipping and clapping as I go?

Fill my days with hopscotch,
Frisbee, hide and seek,
keep my worries,
my job and heartache.

Trading in my high heels
for sneakers bought at the five and dime,
kept together with the strongest of plastic ties.

My pen and computer find their way
into the trash,
In with the jacks, silly putty,
and Barbies.

I say bring on the homework,
here’s my checkbook, credit cards and bills.

Off on my bike, pigtails, lunch sack and
Kool-Aid in hand.
Giving up my adult title,
Catch me if you can!

Adult

This made me want to go running into the sprinkler system at the nearest golf course whooping like a 10 year old, and the "...two week notice my ass..." was like the propulsion system that set me going.

This poem was coolness...

As one of the most advanced cases of arrested development that you will ever meet, I made that decision long ago...welcome to my world! (although playing hopscotch is getting to be a little much these days!)

See ya in the playground!

I don't have the heart to rip your work... Usually! Besides, I genuinely quite liked this one. Childish, simple, but fun.

LOL, I knew it! You feel sorry for me, LMAO.

See why I love penguins. But I promise I am a tough cookie, well a chewy one anyway.

Not so much that I feel sorry for you... more that a ruthless critique of Nae would be like kicking a puppy.

Ha, very benevolent! This poem really described some of the things my girlfriend would do in a heartbeat, innocent little thing. Maybe lose the capitals?

Very excellant poem, highest regards.

I know you can, deary. You have before. You'll have to write something really bad first though
