nifty!

i do have to ask you about this, though:

My pen and computer find their way
into the trash,
in with jacks, silly puddy,
and Barbies.

...why would you be tossing the jacks, et al.?... wouldn't those be desired in your new old life?...

...and did you mean 'silly putty'?... or is that supposed to be your childhood mispronounciation of it?... if so, "" around it would keep readers from thinking you can't spell... which otherwise, you seem to be good at...

complimentary hugs, maia

Hey Maia,

I could not remember if it was putty or puddy. Thank you I fixed it. And I meant (IN) with the jacks etc... not throw out, lol. I added in (with) to make it more clear.

Thank you so much!
Nae

Wow, I love it! It brings to mind a line from that Bob Dylan song "My Back Pages": "Ah, but I was so much older then, / I'm younger than that now." Except your poem was much happier than that song. Haha. I've officially decided that I'm never going to grow up. Get older, maybe, but not grow up

Whatever floats your boat, as long as you don't feel compelled to open a theme park called Neverland in your own garden.

While I'm not really an adult, I can really relate to this poem, just in the line 'why walk when I can run?' - I'm feeling lucky for my legs lately, and how few miles/years I've clocked up - staying with grandparents does that to you. Another bullseye, Nae!

Murder, be happy you can't relate to the bills yet, soon enough. Enjoy being 17!

Scratches, We do take for granted so much. Enjoy your youth!!!

Wow this poem seems to be written on an "eternal truth." This was so fricking true I can't even express the way I feel about this poem. Very good.

Thanks Stevey, I love you . I mean...thanks "Druid".
hehehe. I'm not much for adult-ee things. I like this poem

I agree...some of the capital letters could be lost, but it's great

I absolutely love this poem, something I think everyone can relate to. To break free from the overthinking neurosis of adult life and jump and sing out loud in the street.

I find, on the street, that if you smile, people don't like it. It's bad to be too happy, people will think you're smirking about them, or will get envoious thoughts about how your life might be better than theirs. Head down, don't look for trouble, walk normally, get on with it. How crazy a world is that? I sometimes imagine that, when we die, we don't go to hell or heaven, but that there are infinite layers of worlds to go to depending on our 'performance' in the previous life. And it feels sometimes as if this world is a little down the pecking order.

Thanks Guys! I guess we all feel this way sometimes. Why can't we be grown up but still just be kids? Those days were so easy, so carefree. I keep telling my boys, enjoy it, stop rushing growing up!

Simple life

Wasn't life so simple then? Great job Nae. Don't ever completely grow up. You'll get "old" that way.
