With You -- new poem

I remember the madness of that April:
the interminable wait, sitting on the sidewalk
and hoping to see you soon--
no, craving to lay my eyes on you--
every bit of you and then some more:
what lay beneath your worn clothes.

Still, I waited till the sunset of the year
until, sometime in November,
you finally came to me like in my dreams,
appearing like the impossibly radiant star you are
and banishing all demons clinging to me,
embracing me in your storm arms
and caressing my skin until I slept.

I still remember the madness of that April
and the sweet awakening of November--
I remember it all so vividly that it could not,
by any means, have been the grandest dream;
had it not be real, had you not been there?
But all along something whispered at my ear,
telling me a lie too terrible to accept--
I stay with you and cling to ghostly memories.

Had it not BEEN real, I presume?

I don't actually understand the very end of this poem, but I thought the rest of it was blissful, and in light of that I don't really want to pry further into what the "terrible lie" is...

Wow, this is really intense. Reading it somehow made me ache a little. What an interesting ride, and interesting twist.

I really enjoyed this.

Thank you guys!!! Sorry I have not replied--been EXTREMELY busy with work and school x_x .

As for the ending: S/he cannot accept the truth of what happened to her beloved... so she doesn't say it, and stays stuck in the same rut. Hopefully it wasn't that bad...

Thanks again!
