Pretty Kitty
Pretty kitty
Coquettish mystery of soft-pawed leisure
Brushing by my sitting knee…
Did I not see thee?
Primping primly in the sun-soaked sill,
Half-closed slits of green
Seeking my indisposed will?
Or did your kibble not look fresh enough
For the feast of fair Princess Prettiness,
Water not the right cool or hot
For your whiskered fill?
I’ll change your box tonight,
And see if on the morrow you brush past still.

Aw, this is so cute. Good job.
Sometimes when I'm bored and unmotivated to do anything I just sit and play with or watch my cat and wonder what he thinks. They are so weird.
I like the choice of words, sounds royal and uppity...just how you'd imagine a cat.
But maybe she's just brushing you cuz she loves you?

I really liked it too... I have a cat and that's how mine is...brushing up against your leg.

Simply purrrfect. It really captures the relationship that kitty owners have. The "affection" of these preciosas have for us always... means... something... else, doesn't it?? lol
Very sweet and well done.

This IS my cat, completely.
I can't describe how wonderful it feels to narrow your eyes at a cat as a sign of affection and have them do it back.
I've loved cats all my life and I'm still a bit partial to such poems! Nice one, barnsturm.

Thanks for comments, all.
I was sitting at the table one day and the cat brushed by my leg, which she does not often do. My Cat/My Muse. The poem just tumbled out.
Her name is Maggie; she was a "rescue" from the ASPCA. Certainly not a lap cat at all. But very much MY cat. Follows me around the house like a dog would.

It followed my Larch in one day. Now I can't make it leave.
