Beauty and the Beast Down Under (ABCDerian)
Amphibians: frogs and those darn imported toads
Bonking voices stopped dead, on asphalt roads.
Cockroaches; Giant, Mathews and the clean but Common Brown
Devastating equilibrium of girls in every town.
Ephemeroptera, get to skim still waters but a day,
Fly fishers love these swift mountain Flies of May.
Gorgeous tiny Gliders, of emu feathered, silent flight,
Hurry to the bush, sit still, you might see one tonight.
Incredible potters, forming homes like pots of ancient times,
Jug Making Wasps, what can one say, they truly blow ones mind.
Kangaroos on key rings and coasters, may be nice enough,
Lock up your good work dogs or there'll be guts spilled in the dust.
Monsters in the sea so warm, lurk in beautiful disguise.
Never underestimate the frail and lovely Jellyfish - or die.
Oh! don’t forget the coffin headed Taipan, the deadliest of all,
Perhaps you've met our Tiger Snake, strike is swift, head is small.
Quake in fear if you are struck, go for help, you must not fail,
Remember, if you crack his back, make sure to hold his tail.
Spiders sporting Redbacks, lurk in every outside dunny,
Termites are building condos up North where it is sunny.
Unwisely stepping on the shore in bare feet is a risk,
Vaccines are sadly not available for every single pest.
Worry not, though weary traveller, just avoid our large goanna.
Xyleutes affinis, Ah! this sweet Wood Moth is bigger than a...
(You've stayed with me this long, so take a breath and hold your hat)
Zyzomys argurus, a sleek bush boy, our very own Fat Tailed Rat.

Hi,
What are you doing up this late? Or is that me?
Thanks for the compliment, I nearly put a NAE WARNING! on it but that would have spoilt the surprise. h.

Huni
It is 11:47 AM here, I am working, very hard as you can probably tell! Yeah you should have put a Nae Warning! (But I would have read it anyway, I love your work!)

huni - I'd like permission to use this poem (along with the other ABCDerian ones written here) on the site where I moderate poetry styles. Let me know, okay?

Thanks Smithy
So good of you to pop by and say nice things. I tried to stick with only those things I know and then add that quirky, tall tale touch of my father, while still educate a little. Hope I succeeded!! Nice to have yo read my work smithy, thanks. huni.
