I've never understood haiku, heck I've never understood Japan.

I think you might like haiku if you indeed unstood it. It's like taking one moment in time- then describing it in short-to the point vividness. I think everyone has heard the term "That smell is intoxicating"....that's it plain and simple ,applied to nature in my case with the poem above.

Of course there are more indepth definitions. You might want to check this page out http://www.worldhaiku.net/poetry.htm,
some of the best haiku artist are listed with their haiku. I think you will understand after you read some.Bartelby is also quite good and Im sure would't mind helping.

And I've read you work. You have the imagination and color for haiku, I think you should give it a shot.
