Memorial to the Mass: The Moment of Life 2

    To the Theater
    And all its people.

    --

    Life is fleeting
    Life is fleeting
    Life is--
    Gone...

    I

    The gunshots ring
    The raindrops fall
    The last night stands
    In this morning cold.

    Oh Lord my God,
    Protect my friends
    Protect them from the End.
    Oh Lord my God,
    Hear me now,
    Protect us from the End.

    Dear Old Sister,
    Welcome the Twelve
if they be where you be.
    Tour them around
    Around the Eternal Light
    And show them to God
    And give them eternal peace.

    Friends of life, remember this:
    Remember the Twelve
    Who were shot by one.
Stay alive in the stride that you make
And continue on the name of God,
    Lest you hurt me
    Even more.

    II

    Dear Moment
    Dear Moment of Life,
    Have you come again
From the ashes of my Sister?

Have you come to show the Lesson,
    The lesson from before?

If it’s true, then let it be.
If it’s wise, then let it be.
And I know that it is true
    And that it is wise,
    So I’ll let it be.

    III

Now the hope shall come again
Now the hope shall surely rise.
Up the Eden Hill we shall go
And make amends to God above.

To my Sister, and my Brother,
To my friends, and all the others,
Peace to you, and you alone,
In this time that is the night.

    --

    Then forever Life come again
in the Dawn that holds no end.

And up that hill long we've tread
    shall we see eternity...

Very touching, especially for me since this tragedy happened so near my home. Thanks.
Poets are always taking the weather so personally. They're always sticking their emotions in things that have no emotions.

Same for me, Squalid. As you can see, I actually live in Aurora so a few of my friends were injured in the theater. And I found out, a few days ago, that one of my friend's friend was killed. His name was AJ Boik, and that was the breaking point for me personally and the only way I could cope was writing.

Of course, as it is for a lot of us here. I was actually planning on going to that theater with a friend until he backed out. I'm very thankful it worked out for me.

It's been a difficult summer for our state. Wish you the best.
