    Dusty books

    In order to facilitate
    escape from daylight nightmare,
a young boy seeks to emigrate
and change his days to nightdear.

Freezing drafts through fissured hearth, and home's gaping scar
while young one accidently finds, books on old pel-lu-cidar.
    To insulate his spindly limbs,
he ties, with bits of string,
    their moldy yellow paper.
Now mummy wrapped, he hopes for spring,
    while sheathed with sheaves of stranger climes;
the books, they sing, of different times.

    On rocket ship or otherwise
    he flies to distant planet.

    Barsoomian skies and Deja Thoris
    Vermillion sands or lunar forrest.

    Monkey-men and monster chiefs,
seek to feast, and murder him.
    Though scrawney limbed and weak-a-ling
he fights off beasts and evil king.
With sharpened spear and Conan sword
he lays to waste, vast gibbering horde.

Pork and beans from a tin,
bills unpaid, he grows more thin.
Though fiercely drawn, while flying ships
from the boy, life just slips.

Very cool, I can relate.. i like how short the break back into reality is. Seems like he hardly notices that hes wasting away there.

I really, really like this one Kevin.

I think that you left out some punctuation, it's easy to do. Such as:

    In order to facilitate
    escape from daylight nightmare,
a young boy seeks to emigrate
and change his days to nightdear------------needs period.

Freezing drafts through fissured hearth, and home's gaping scar
while young one accidently finds, books on old pel-lu-cidar-------------- needs period.
    To insulate his spindly limbs,
he ties, with bits of string,
    their moldy yellow paper---------------------------------period.
Now mummy wrapped, he hopes for spring,
    while sheathed with sheaves of stranger climes;
the books, they sing, of different times.
The flow and cadence of this one is good and the story is a touching one.

I really liked this piece; the rhyming feels very natural and ties it all together.
