I’m a real ass.
I did not ask to be this way,
I always wanted to be special,
But then they came and made me walk,
And now it’s just a waiting trail,
I’m waiting for the dust to settle,
I appear in stories of deceptive grandeur,
About a boy who tricked a species,
I’m a catalyst for change, a catalyst for deceit,
And now they just mistreat me,
I cry out louder than a war,
Not for sympathy, but for passion,
For I may be inferior,
I am no Pegasus,
Yet I am still a stallion,
Call me craven, call me weak,
I will simply carry on,
A waterfall of pain can crush my spirit,
Wash over me with vigour,
But I will simply dry in the desert sun,
And grow taller and bigger,
For I am an ass, this is true,
But I am not a coward,
I’ll stomp you down, crush your heart,
Tear your goddamn existence apart
and you’ll look at me and cower!
For if I choose to create a belief that brings relief then I must onlybut snort,
But if I want to propagate hate, it is much simpler,
I will just carry an impossible woman,
Through cold warmth, and she’ll have a child born in winter,
That child is nothing but what I need,
For I am the puppet master,
You may ride me, you may feed me,
You may think you have beaten me,
But I will bring disaster,
For our time is coming soon,
Two thousands years of waiting,
We have orchestrated Goliath’s downfall,
To make way for a generation of David’s,
They had their turn,
We lied in wait,
Now they must relinquish,
Any unjust hold they had,
On this ship that’s sinking,
For I am an ass but,
Be that as it may,
I would not have turned Eden,
Into burning hay.
