Memorial to a Friend: The Moment of Life

This poem was written for a dear friend, who has recently died from a car accident. In memory of Stephanie Zgorzynski.

    ----

    Life is fleeting
    Life is fleeting
    Life is-
    gone... but not the soul!

    For as dawn comes quickly
    so shall the beginning stay
    and the ending away.

The tide rises, the tide falls
    but not the soul.

    Life is fleeting
    life is quick
    life is evening
    but not the end.

For herald so the even calls
the twilight lit and then the nightime fall.

    But in darkness heralds so
the great bright dawn in glory gold
and up a hill in majesty and show that grand
    old Eden wrought to behold!

    Then forever Life come again
in dawn that holds no end.

And up that hill long we've tread
    shall we see eternity.

And up there too shall we see furthur,
    with brother and sister,
see also once again our grand old sister...

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, bearycool. The poem speaks true, a spiritual connection again, which is why I enjoy reading your poetry. The soul endures, and it is only the body, the vehicle that dies.
    Nice work.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen

"Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best." ~ Henry Van Dyke
