    Calling All Poets!

We're on a quest for nominees
    from both Fiction and Poetry
(I know some of you mosey over to prose
when our boards are taking a doze).
    "Our Choice" is sadly underused,
c'mon y'all and afford us some clues
as to work you'd like to see best
featured in the next Motley Press.

    Exposure is a precious gift,
give fellow writers a well-earned lift
    by voicing your opinions aloud
and lauding those who shine in a crowd.
With a click on the provided link
it's easy to tell us what you think.

Thanks for enduring such horrid rhyme,
I have no excuse for this crime,
but if it leads us to our best,
    I'll gladly embrace my arrest.

Happy hunting, y'all! Betcha everyone would love to hogtie me right about now, lol.

    It's Your Choice

    Dear Lisa,

I’d gladly enter a brilliant poem
if I were not in Dr. Seuss mode.

You see, I write the dark to death,
    rarely coming up for breath.

I’ve tired myself out for thirty days,
suffering from a certain wretched haze.

So, this month I’ll not be posting an entry.
Please tell Olly my work would not be complimentary.

But hey! If I can write such a stunning verse as this,
I will surely submit and win this competition of his.

So, convey to Olly I’ve had a sudden change of mind
because I’ve discovered I have a great gift for rhyme.

    You would be correct, Captain!

But I did enjoy my crime of a rhyme.

What's in question is whether "crime" or "rhyme" should be the operative word.

Well, my favorite Captain ("favorite" being the operative word) I would say that, in my case, there is no operative word in this scenario. Rhyme, Crime are synomonis when it comes to my attempts.

I had to repeat the first grade because I never got "Cat and the Hat" down.

But I excelled in Mischief and dosing off in math class.

Thanks to both astroannie and Todd for their thoughts. I know we are all very vocal. That said, we can't heeeeaaaar you!

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with only an Ipad when I can beat the others away. Zombie apocalypse is a walk in Eden in comparison. Laptops are in the shop, again... I'll rejoin you in full force as soon as possible, one would think my silence is a gift, lol. I'm here, just quiet. I didn't want you all to think I was rude. Now let's have some nominees, if you please. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,
    Lisa

Time is ticking dear poets. The closing date for nominations is October 15th. Take a peek if you would to see what's been nominated or add a nomination of your own. We've been given a collective voice and thus far it's only a whisper. Let's hear some screaming. lol.

In my defense, oh royal person
No question, my prose is wont to worsen
My rhyme is a crime, of that there's no doubt
Stay away, they say, stay away, KEEP OUT!

I've nominated three more pieces, take a look and see, and should you agree, please second, or add your own nominations. Remember, closing date for submissions is the 15th. Here's the link again for convenience:
