    Sounds of the Sidewalk

    Flip-flop, plop-plop
    up and down,
    the annoying sound
    of people walking
    down the sidewalk
    with flip-flops
    on their feet
    as I enjoy my latte.

Ah! This is a piece after my heart. Such a wonderful moment poem. Simple and real. Very nice.
Poets are always taking the weather so personally. They're always sticking their emotions in things that have no emotions.

I like this one as well - simple, uncluttered, and pensive

Cindy, as said, you caught a moment in time. Simple and true. Refreshing like a latte (which I'm sure you got at Starbuck's wink)

hi nellie. this is a cute poem, the sound of flipflops don't bother me so much, because they make remind me of summer, which makes me happy, but i can see how they could get annoying. only had one nit with this.

down the sidewalk - i didn't feel "down" was very strong, plus, there is a sound echo generated from the first use of "down" that just doesn't feel right. perhaps there is another way to describe the traval of people wearing flipflops? just an idea.

otherwise, i enjoyed this little momment of time.

Aww this was cute--short and simple. I liked it.

You had me smile here, Cindy, a very effective read. Personally, from spending many hours in libraries studying, the sound of high heels echoing through the hallways must said to be my personal most annoying footwear sound! They're just so unfitting for libraries where people read, yet still so many young look-at-me-I'm-so-fashionably-clever girls tend to wear them there. See, now you had me going, hehe. And you reminded me, I need to get some flip-flops soon

Thank you all for you comments, suggestions, and personal thoughts. I'm certainly happy you all understand where I was coming from.

Martin, I happened to be in a bookstore trying to read while enjoying my latte as people were passing by with flip-flops. And I find high heels just as annoying, especially in a library. Go get your flip-flops now.

Wood, I'll have to think about your suggestion.
