    Bulimia.

I copied and pasted this from a document, I didn't realise the board automatically formatted the lines, so it looks a incredibly odd and feels horrible to read. Is there any way to add in the original spacings? I'd delete this thread but I don't know how.

    -----

    Sin of impulse
    A moments pleasure
To dive for pearls, a far deep
    treasure
    of the mind and senses
    Keep going, can't stop,
    binge and lose all pretences
    of self control.

Drowning out or off the rails,
whatever does it matter when the consequence is
    the same.
Spare me guilt of moments past
Of rising up a burning shame
Impulse, apparently, has ability to last
Claw the demons within my guts,
    writhing, turning, restless,
drag them out of my throat and stomach,
    burning hot an acidic taste.
Again and again, remove my sin, please God no,
not again, desperation is my only friend.

This is bulimia, a mistake erased.
    Until the cycle repeats
    A moderate defeat.

Most forums won't preserve the original spacing copied from a document; you have to re-format it yourself within the post before you post it. I'm not sure how these boards handle things like tabs, but the space bar usually does the trick. It's a pain, I know, but it has to be done if you want it to look right. I think you can probably use the edit button to adjust your post to get it looking right; you shouldn't have to delete the whole thread and start over.

I'll withhold any critiquing until I can see it in the way you intended it to be seen.

Bachelorette is correct, you can move things around by editing the post. I've contacted Gumby and asked her to contact you as she's far more learned than I when it comes to formatting. I, too, will withhold my crit until the piece is as you desire. I apologize for being so clueless and my inability to assist you promptly.

    Best,

I haven't tried it yet, and I can't find the post announcing the availability of the feature, but when posting, if you go to the "Advanced," option, there's a little "Word" icon, third over from the left in the text editor -- a "w" in a little square. If you click on that, a window pops up, and if you paste the text from your Word Document into it and click OK, the formatting is supposed to hold. Give that a shot.

I've tried just putting the spaces in, but it always seems to re-format. I'm sorry for posting!! Is there any way to delete a thread?

PM a member of staff for the Poetry boards, like ChestersDaughter or Gumby, and request for the thread to be deleted. As for formatting, do as Joseph said - use the small Word icon in 'advanced'. It works fine, and it's much more efficient than trying to format it yourself in the editing feature.

But, there's no need to delete the thread if all you want to do is re-format: just click 'edit post', then 'go advanced' and go through the 'Word' procedure that both Joseph and I have mentioned.

Hi vrabbit, all of the suggestions above should help you to fix your formatting. If none of these work, just send me a pm and I'll delete the post for you and you can try to start over from the beginning.
