A life gone by
forgotten by time;
she hides well the tears
that nobody tries to find.
The darkness bright
to burn her eyes-
she scrapes and she claws
to find the light,
but darkness caked thick,
drinking dry tears
because the love has gone
and nobody cares.
The time is up,
and no one saw.
Shouting loud with silence,
she covers the scars.
No one’s to blame
for this wretched thing;
you didn’t know,
and she didn’t show
the pain she was hiding
deep in her soul.
We knew she was lost
in the deep-burning frost
but never had known
the end would be this.
She hid it so well,
and no one found out,
but I didn’t find out,
and I didn’t ask.
What would have happened
if only I had?
