    Gravity

    I’m through chasing lies
    that have given me ties
    to the ground,
    and I’m done spinning ‘round
    ‘cause there’s nothing to see
    if you never run free
    from the world.

I’ve gotta breathe for a moment,
so give me wings, and I will fly
to where the air is pure
and I can live for more
    than this.

And I don’t want to die
with a doubt in my mind
that I went through life without living,
    so I’ll take a chance.
I’ll let go of the chains
that have pulled me into this trance,
and I’ll float into the world of the unknown.

I enjoyed this poem quite a bit more than the other. I liked the wings/fly contrasting with chains/ties to the ground.

That said, are you contradicting yourself here? You say that you want to "run free from the world" but you "don't want to die" yet. Perhaps you want to run free from restriction, parents, a job, responsibilities, or something else?

    Anyway, keep it up!

The message here is to let go of the limits that we put on ourselves. I use "I'll let go of the chains" and "I'll fly" synonymously because I feel that, often times, we hold on to limits that we ourselves have created.

I know. What I meant to say was that the phrasing in the last four lines of your first stanza conflict with your theme, epecially the final two.

and I’m done spinning ‘round - implies the speaker doesn't want to see anther day (earth spinning)
‘cause there’s nothing to see - says that life offers nothing
if you never run free - if you escape
from the world. - from life

Oh, I see what you mean now. This is what I meant:

and I’m done spinning ‘round- in circles that is(never going anywhere)
    ‘cause there’s nothing to see
    if you never run free
from the world.- really the conformity and limits of the world and not the act of living

I also like this very much, Isaiah. For what's it worth, I interpreted the stanza in question as you intended. I found this to be very uplifting, which says a good deal coming from me as I usually prefer being drowned in the mire. Nicely done, love.

    Best,
