The Guitar Man - One of the first poems I am proud of.

I have tried writing poetry many times, and have always failed at it! But ...this one, I am kind of proud of, just got done writing it too

      The Guitar Man

    A poet, a dreamer, a thinker and a singer.
    He can make people happy,
    He can make people sad.
    Fill a heart with love.
And relieve it of the pain.
    What makes him so special?
Well my friends it is that
He can connect on a level.
He can get through the dirt,
    The grime,
    The pain and the grief,
    Like a champion.
    Whether knowing you,
    Or not,
    He can sing and pick
    In any situation.
    He can make one love,
    He can make one hate.
    With his immeasurable talent,
    And grace.
    Let him be tattooed,
    Dressed in Black
Or bearded with a black and white guitar,
    Let him be scary,
    Let him be tame,
    Let him reach success
    And incredible fame.
For he’s won the hearts of people
    Worldwide.
    With simple singing,
    And picking by and by.
    He reaches people,
    Of all ages
    And situations.
    Giving some hope
    To one whose
    Experiences aren’t
    So different.

I can certainly identify with the sentiment expressed here. Now; what I would like to see you do is pick your favorite "guitar man", and write a poem about him using images to show the feeling he gives you. I saw Roger Waters in concert a few months ago. He was performing The Wall and during the guitar solo for Comfortably Numb, the guitarist stood on the top of the wall and had the spotlight on him. He was just wailing on that thing, and the crowd was literally in a trance before him. An image like that stands out to me as demonstration of the power/divinity of the guitarist. Pick a memory you have of that, and build on it, and I promise you'll have a poem that can register more of an emotional hit than what you think you're capable of.
Poets are always taking the weather so personally. They're always sticking their emotions in things that have no emotions.

I'm with Squalid. Show an image to convey what is special about the guitar man. I remember going to see a jazz guitarist in the Blue Note cafe in Greenwich Village and what stuck in my mind was how he came on stage barefoot.

Thank you both very much. I am going to work on my poetry with that in mind. Unfortunately though, two of those "guitar" men, passed on before I ever got the chance to see them, other than photographs and videos. The first one that is sort of listed here, I am going to see Live in May, if nothing complicates my attendence to his concert. Thank you again for the advice.
