Modern Cinderella

I clean
I work
I scrub
I cook

A pretty face
Is what is shown
Covered in soot
I feel so alone

Not a thing to wear
But rags and dirt
No love in the world
My heart is so hurt

When will I be rescued?
When will I be saved?
Where is my prince charming?
To save me from my grave

I am modern Cinderella
If only fairy tales were true
I’d be away from here
And I’d be with you
