    Broken Statues

to stand on the bare pedestals
    of Ovid’s temple
    he imagined ...

his mother holding a hand up to her ear
whilst staring at a hairline crack

    his father, muscular arms outstretched
(trying to convince), without any fingers

a proud brother with no nose

his alabaster wife with no arms

and a frantic friend with no head
    nor genitals

Great images of the broken statues. I could really see them and I especially liked "alabaster wife"

A couple of thoughts, just my perspective. It felt a little unfinished because at the moment it just describes the broken statues but doesn't go any deeper. Why did he imagine the broken statues - is there sadness or other emotion in the memory?

Also try to avoid the repetition of - with no - else it feels a bit like a list.
