Thread: Doggerel

As a writer of doggerel
I can’t equal Mac Gonnagall
Though I do make a quite fair attempt
At poor enjambment and keeping the whole thing unkempt

But I do have a point
Would you please take a squint
At the “power” challenge poems for November
And vote for three, each written by a different member.

I admit, so quickly do I lose interest in these eggs I place here and there
A complex graph I must keep to remember what goes where
And which one hatches when,
And to see what sort of thing is crawling about when next time I am visiting there.

The voting in the challenge is neck and neck
And although some might think “What the heck”
There are contestants who think it is really important
And might even see it as a sort of portent,
Not only a judgement on these seven poems
But should they give up the day job and stay in their homes
Never more to go on roams
But simply sit there writing poems?
