This is a poem I wrote a while ago ... It's a bit cutesy, but I like it!
A horse is a horse is a horse they say
But what in the world do “they” know, neigh!
They know not of warm, hay-scented hugs
Or of trying to get a horse to move, when he is impersonating a slug
They are blind to the sight of those warm liquid eyes
Deaf to the sound of those whickers and sighs
They know not the joy of a summer trail ride
Or of getting that ribbon, oh, the pride!
They do not appreciate the awe of a foal newly born
Or the comfy-ness of a saddle that is well worn
They know not the joy of a well-stocked tack store
The smell of leather that hits you at the door
They say we are horse crazy, that may be true
But I say they are crazy, and I’m sure you do too!
