    Friend

    Will you stay with me
even if the road is rough---?
    Even if the winds gust
and the endless nights are freezing,

    (Will you be my friend?)

    Will you converse with me
though you have nothing to say
and I have nothing to reveal
will you still be there for me

    (will you be my friend?)

    I have searched a lifetime
    to find a friend and---
    through pages of my imagination,
    I formed an image---Of you…

    (Will you be my friend?)

If there were a poem about finding an imaginary friend, this would be it. Is that what you meant by it or am I over-analyzing?
Wherever I sat - on the deck of a ship or at a street café in Paris or Bangkok - I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air.

Hi Baron and 32rosie thanks for stopping in to read. I was thinking I could add more to this poem, but I just threw it out there to see what others thought. I apprecate your comments....

Such a very nice sentiment expressed here. Not too many friends like that left, I'm afraid, though I do have one or two that fit.

Hey, citygirl. This seems like an earnest request for friendship, the kind you don't see very often. Liked it a lot. It actually reminds me of a story,

I was at a cybercafe playing XBox360 about five months ago and this little kid, about seven or eight, was sitting beside me playing the same game, which was Modern Warfare 2. Anyways, the kid started talking to me out of the blue. "Oh, grab that gun! I've beat this level before. I've beat the whole GAME, actually. You died again." And I was kind of talking back, but more just trying to concentrate on the game, and he was a little annoying to be honest. But he kept talking to me, and then all of a sudden he was like, "Do you want to be my friend?" lol. Yeah, very true, and I was like, "Sure," and kept playing. He was a nice, exuberant little guy. It struck me as being funny at the time, because unless you're that age you never really hear a request like that so outright.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

Loved it. Not much more I need to add there. Very nice indeed.
