The Actor
I am the greatest of actors
and my role will never end.
I play a young and growing man,
a son, a brother, and a friend.

I play a man with a spotty past
full of anger, betrayal, and regret,
and though he wants to move on
he will not let himself forget.

He is a character full of flaws,
several he's afraid to admit.
The ones he sees are of no help
They make him feel like shit.

He is not a man without hope,
a man beyond redemption.
He is a man willing to challenge himself
by many an unanswerable question.

Yes, I have the role of a lifetime.
About this I cannot lie.
I spend so much time being him,
I wonder, "Who am I?"

I really enjoyed this! It had a really nice rhythm to it! I'm not much of a poet but I liked this a lot! I will be sure to read more of your poems
