    Chaining Poems

    Hello all~

At my old writing forum, we had a poetry game/prompt similar to the "use this line in a poem" thread, but with a bit more flexibility, IMO. The first user posts five words, and the next user posts a poem of any kind that contains ALL FIVE of those words. Then that person posts five more words, and the next one writes a poem using those five words, and so on. The words can be personal names too, as long as it's just a one-word name (i.e., Juliet is okay; Juliet Capulet would not be).

Here's an example of one I wrote for this challenge:

The five words were theology, incandescence, liberated, soldier, black. So I wrote:

    liberated from a poisoned theology
i soldier forth into the bright void
    where the illimitable incandescence
of new and beautiful truth illuminates
the black, bleak forests in the night

    Now it's your turn!

    Five words:

    fire
    cloud
    abandon
    literature
    ocean

When will children learn to let their wildernesses burn?
And love will be new, never cold and vacant.

    The literature,
    bound in fire,
words caught and sent to the sky,
    edification precipitation,
clouds heavy with the heavy notions,
    unable to hold themselves aloft.

    Five words:
    Defenestration
    words
    earth
    impact
    zealous
    Putting the laughter in manslaughter.

The Presidents life ended in defenestration.
On reflection, it is entirely possible that careless words
resulted in premature contact with solid earth,
and that that outcome, and resultant impact,
were a consequence of precipitous action by underlings who were a touch overzealous.

That should generate some Dickensian & Christmassy thoughts...

    Tramlines,
    violently ripped from the cobbles,
    lamplighters stare in awe,
they wish they would have thought to bring umbrellas,
as the bricks begin to fall.
the Zeppelin trails its streamers of metal into the fog.
