The lack of voting in the poetry contest and the remarks made by iDrew about how difficult it is to make a decision make me wonder if people are failing to vote simply because they can't decide. I went to Shawn's original scoring thread to see what the original criteria were. Judges were asked to award points on the following basis.

How well does the poem fit the set theme?
How good is it technically, is the grammar good, is it spelled right?
How good is the composition, does it use poetic devises such as alliteration etc.?
Does it have impact? It may fit the theme well but it should not do so so well as to be simply a comfortable reiteration of ideas.
How original is it?

Perhaps applying these criteria can help you decide who to vote for.
