Serial Killers- A Mind of Madness

This is a simple article that I decided to do in my freetime a while ago. I did not put a whole lot of effort into researching the topic, but I made sure that my information was solid by gathering it from a crime site (can't remember the name, maybe trutv.com crime or something) and put it in my own words. Not that great, just a rushed article to fill in time, and no, I am no phycology doctor or anything, I am just a usual, regular 14 year old boy who enjoys writing.
I hope you enjoy it.

Murder. It has now become a casual occurrence in our everyday lives. It has been reported that America alone suffers approximately tens of deaths per day in today’s time of peace if you exclude the current events in Iraq.

In other foreign countries such as Iraq itself, at least 40 to 50 people are found murdered per day from some of the most recent statistic reports. This is just the body count that the authorities actually have learnt about and there could possibly be tens of more people that are killed per day.

But what inspires a serial/ homicidal murderer to kill? Many say that graphic movies are influential to some viewers who thrive on inflicting brutal violence to others, but some murder addicts are not even affected by this. Some kill while high from drugs such as heroin and cocaine, others just live on killing people like drugs. They become addicted and cannot find a way out.

For us regular human beings that freely roam the streets today, when we experience a sudden emotion of rage or wish to hurt another person or even begin to think about doing something despicably wrong to someone else we are kept restrained from unleashing these feelings by some inner force that at least attempts to stop us from actually performing that desire.
Sometimes we are driven over the edge and just have to let out some steam on another person using aggressive violence. This is a normal case. But killing that person is another act on an entirely different level. A level that forces the boundaries far past the limit.

We are not discussing the topic of revenge killings or political assassinations, we are talking about a more sinister and sadistic method of murder. Serial killing. Such notorious serial murderers include Robert Pickton who was convicted of responsibility of the slaying of 60 different women. The still mysterious Zodiac Killer who is still to this very day roaming the surface of the world freely as he is yet to be caught. He massacred countless amounts of people and often insulted and taunted police of his intelligence. However, the Zodiac seemed to have maintained his desire of intentional murder to a minimal if he left clues behind at every scene, deliberately.
Most serial killers simply stash the corpses of their unfortunate victims that were located at the wrong place at the wrong time and the serial killers often were careless and sloppy with their killings, al they cared about was their prey, their kill.

So, how can serial murders be stopped? It still remains unknown. Most serial killers carry a certain case of schizophrenia causing them to feel angry at unnecessary times over unnecessary reasons and they feel as if hey must hunt someone down and kill them, sometimes for fun, other times for vengeance over society for a purpose.
But one thing is for sure, these serial killers will continue to kill, they will never be stopped. More and more humans are starting to commit sadistic serial crimes such as sexual murders like rape, violent and brutal beatings that result in the other person dying after sustaining too much damage others are just random series of shootings.

The main point is that no matter how much a mass-murderer tries, they cannot keep the beast inside of them locked away forever. It will escape sometime, whether it is sooner or later, the psychological desire for violence will always win. It is seen that there is only two escape options for sadistic killers. One being surrendering themselves to the authorities, whereas the other ultimatum is suicide, which seems the easiest way out for many.

I enjoyed it. It was a little sparse on facts, but it seems that you have a solid base knowledge of what you are writing about. I have heard that serial killers are often sociopaths, people who have no conscience. My philosophy teacher told me that approximately 15 - 20% of the population is sociopathic, but many are able to function normally just by observing the rules of society. It's an interesting viewpoint. Once again, good job.
