Question Karma Yoga

There are 2 types of Men who try to realise the self. One type wishes to understand the self through philosophical speculation, they are called Philosophers. The other type understand the self by engaging in spiritual service to the Absolute truth they are known as yogis or devotees.

Yogis practice various forms of Yoga, the highest form of Yoga is Bhuddi Yoga. Bhuddi yoga means to depend entirely on the will of God. Through the process of Bhuddi Yoga sense desires can be brought under control and this assists the yogi in developing spiritual knowledge.

Religion without philosophy is Fanaticism.
Philosophy without religion is mental speculation.
The ultimate goal of both religion and philosophy is to discover the absolute truth.
Philosophy is the indirect path.
Bhuddi Yoga is the direct path.

without purification one cannot understand the absolute truth. We are all spirit souls and we are eternal. due to our envious nature we are covered by the dense energy of matter, and now we foolishly cling to the material energy considering it to be reality.

Reality is spiritual energy and it is eternal. material energy is of a temporary nature. In order for us to return to our spiritual nature and escape the illusion of false materialistic identification we must free ourselves through the indirect or direct paths to the absolute truth.

Siddhim

One cannot attain perfection by renouncing life or abstaining from work. First purification of the heart must take place through spiritual practices. Even slight advancement on the path of bhuddi yoga enables one to overcome great difficulties.

Purification of the heart means all materialistic entanglements and desires have been cleaned from ones conciousness. Materialistic entanglements and desires imprison us in the material world. As long as one is addicted to enjoying material energy he will have no desire to enjoy spiritual energy. this means ones soul will remain on the material dimension and after death he will have to take birth again in some type of material body. This process is called reincarnation or transmigration of the soul.

The material world is a place of suffering and finally death. It is a prison and we are its prisoners. It is not our home. Happiness in this world is actually a mirage. Real happiness is in the spiritual world.

When the soul enters the material world he becomes covered by the various modes of material nature namely Goodness, Passion and Ignorance. These modes force the soul to act helplessly according to the particular mixture of the modes the soul aquires. Under the dictates of these modes no one in the material world can refrain from doing something.

The soul by nature is always active. The body is only a vehicle to be operated by the soul. The spirit soul is better off engaged in the practices of Bhuddi Yoga as his actions will benefit him eternaly.

We are Spirit souls. Part and parcel of the greater whole. Through one way or another we have become attracted to the material energy. We are caught under the spell of Lust, greed, and anger.

This has made us materialistic and as long as we remain materialistic we will have to remain in the prison like material Universe and suffer many kinds of physical, and emotional miseries.

The 4 problems of material existance are Birth, disease, old age, and death. For many millenia we have been changing bodies, whilst existing in the material world, sometimes we had the bodies of animals, sometimes the bodies of human beings and sometimes the bodies of Gods.

Every time we leave one body through the process of death, due to materialistic attatchment we are forced to take a new physical body, It could be any kind of body that we have been awarded due to our Karma.

When we are reborn we have to spend time suffering the painful process of birth which is a cause of great suffering. If we are lucky enough not to be aborted at that early stage, then we live on and our bodies grow where apon we Are immeadeatly tormented by various diseases.

In fact throughout our whole lives we are constantly tormented by various diseases, which modern science cannot always protect us from. the physical Body is a temple of disease and suffering.

As we grow and we get older then our bodies start to slow down, and become more and more frail, This process is called Old age. The beauty and vigour of our bodies depletes with every passing year, And we even start losing our mental faculties.

Finally death can come at any stage of our physical growth due to accident, disease or old age. death is usually a horrible painful experience which causes alot of fear and misery. But death is the natural destiny of the material body, because anything that is material is certainly doomed to destruction.

Arrow

You say we are the eternal...but then we need to do 'spiritual practice' to realize that. Sounds contradictory.

People have forgotten that they are spiritual beings due to the energy of ignorance that permeates the material universe. They falsly identify with their temporary material bodies. Spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer, etc help us rediscover our true identities as Spiritual beings that are eternal in nature and full of peace, bliss and knowledge.

I've been studying the teachings of the 14th Dalai Lama by listening to his books on cd as part of my research on spirituality for my new book. Buddhism is a great religion to study mainly because of it's profound and prolific literature on meditation and self-discovery.

Yeah buddhism is cool. But Bhakti Yoga is a little different in that It proposes the concept of a personal god. Buddhism is a more impersonal spiritual system.

Yes. In Bhakti Yoga it is said that god is unlimited and therefore god has unlimited names and forms. So it is possible to worship god in his form of Crom! If that is the form you are spiritually attracted too.

Obviously Crom is Conans favorite incarnation of god. So in a way you could argue that Conan is a yogi. believe it or not there were some violent yogis. the most famous one was the ancient warrior mentioned in the Bhagavad gita, known as Arjuna.
