For your star sign, I would say you are an Aries. I will work out you Chinese sign a bit later.

Somewhere back in the middle of this thread someone cast nasturtiums on the idea that planets can influence our lives.
That being so how do you account for the fact that in earlier times most women menstruated at the time of the new moon? And in primitive cultures still do, even today?

It's a far cry going from the moon, to Jupiter, and then to star constellations billions of kilometers away having an effect over us. The moon and Jupiter having tangible effects on the Earth - and by virtue, us - I can accept. However, I doubt the influence of planets is profound enough to shape our very characters.
And for the record, my sign is aquarius

Yes. Aquarius would make sense. Considering you are Intellectual and egotistical, but I got thrown off because I thought Aquarians were quite openminded about metaphysical topics and you did'nt come across that way.
I guess this experiment just proves I am a crappy astrologer, but I already knew that.

Well, I used to think it was silly, but the more I read about it, the more it rings true. I have a massive book on star signs and for every member of my family, the description fits the bill. Scarily so.
I am a piscean with a scorpio moon sign, born right at the end of the first week of pices. I am "double pices". My dad is also one and he has a major addictive personality and I do as well, kind of. The reason why I don't try a smoke or any kind of drug. I also deny I am drunk even when I am giggling pathetically and and my eyes are swimming lazily after a few glasses of wine.
I daydream a lot and when I look at my friends of the opposite sex - or my uncle's gay mates - they always tell me I am giving off sexual vibes even if I am just trying to be "normal".
I only started reading up on it all recently and to start with I just had the impression that I would have traits like all of the signs but no, I am 100% like my star sign. My uncle is the same with his (cancer). If it's coincidence, fine, I really don't mind. I just find it interesting.

Hodge, Shawn, everyone who has commented, just read up on it, not newspaper articles or things like that, proper reading material. There are books on it and you'll be surprised, me thinks. There is no evidence, there are just coincidences. Wether they mean anything or not, who knows. For instance, the two planets I loved as a kid were jupiter and neptune. The sun was too big and hot, venus boring, Mars plain, pluto too far away... I could go through all the other planets as well... but jupiter and neptune, for a reason unknown to me, caught my imagination. When I read that they were my "joint ruling planets" I was a little surprised.
It goes much deeper than that as well, but who wants an essay on astrology. You want to find out about it, just read a bit from a decent book and then put it down if you think it's all rubbish.
