Then you take all of this for granted. Antiobiotics, innoculations, and the whole of modern medicine owes itself to capitalism. Public education? That too. Social programs? Modern government? The house you live in? Capitalism. How about the vehicles used to haul fruits and vegetables grown in other parts of the world to your town while they're still fresh? Capitalism. Computers and the internet? Big time capitalism. Cleaner industrial technology? Also capitalism.
I don't know where you even get the idea we're making progress towards "self destruction." Can you name anything that leads you to believe this? Anything specific?

You have no vantage point to begin. You've been sheltered in the greatness of Capitalism all your life.

Go for your dreams
Life is very short actually, we get a limited amount of time to achieve what we want in life. We can seize the oppurtunities or we can procrastinate and make excuses for not getting what we want. The worst thing would be to get old and regret not having gone and done the things you wanted to do deep in your heart.
Go for what you want! right now before its too late. but do it reasonably and dont step over everyone else to get it.

Yes your right theres been plenty of positive things but to say capitilism is the complete cause of all these developments is naive, many societal factors have come into play capitilism is only a small part of the equation,
Why do I think we are headed to self destruction, well in my lifetime I have seen major destruction of the environment that supports us occuring everywhere, There have all so been degradations in the moral direction of society due to the fact that everyone lives for the buck now. It seems we have the rich minority getting richer whilst the poor majority is getting poorer.
And you forget the fact nations can all annialate eachother with Nuclear waapons. just a small accident could start a Nuclear War.

In every stage of human life there has been someone proclaiming imminent doom. That does not mean that it will occur.
We are a resilient species, we will adapt to whatever is thrown our way regardless of its enormity.

Personal Doom will occur in the form of our deaths. We all have to die some day through old age or otherwise. This world is a world of death and destruction.

Doom does not equate with death. I quite look forward to death, I imagine it will be very relaxing.

I'ld much rather enjoy my life while I still have it. I'll worry about death when it comes.

It's not to be worried about... it's to be embraced.
I enjoy my life, but I must say I look forward to the prospect of eternal sleep.

No, capitalism is THE part of the equation. Again, capitalism encourages innovation—it is the reason for all of the innovation of today.
There hasn't been major destruction of the environment, and "moral degredation" is entirely subjective. There also is no poor majority. The majority is middle class. If you went back in time 100 or more years, then yeah, the poor would be a majority. But not today.

Just think about it. If you turn out healthy. After a long life, you've done perhaps not everything you wanted to do, but you have no regrets. You lay down to sleep, instinctively knowing you would not live throughout the night. Would you relax and fall asleep in the most peaceful manner you had ever before, or would you freak out and throw a tantrum?

Don't know the answer to that. I'ld like to think that I would relax. but Death seems so final. maybe I could do something crazy before I go.

Capitalism encourages Innovation? maybe. When I speak of the poor majority I am talking also of the third world which you seem to have forgotten about. most of the worlds population are dirt poor. India? Africa?
