THE TRUTH IS "STUPIDER" THAN FICTION
Mark Twain - "Its no wonder why the truth is stranger then fiction.
Fiction has to make sense."
Never more true words have been spoken.
AMERICAN citizens are being corn-swaggled and mislead. Our government is not taking the issues of today seriously. According to the U.S. National Debt clock the current debt of America is 7,445,826,181,733.80. Everyday It climbs by 1.61 billion dollars. It is estimated that there is 294 million people in the United States. That means that every man, women, and child owes 25.5 thousand dollars.
AMERICA as a nation is flat broke. We are living on borrowed time and money. What's worse than that, is the fact that we as U.S citizens don't seem to realize what is happening. In the not so distant future this country will need to be able handle several issue's. The biggest of those issues are; fixing the water supply, rebuilding the power grid, and modernizing mass-transit.
THERE was a prediction by the world wildlife fund, that billions may be effected by the 1-degree raise in temperature that has occurred around the globe. The WWF predicts an overall raise in temperature of four degrees by the centuries end. A climb of that magnitude would effect all of the worlds polar regions ice, and have a disastrous impact on the American way of life.
PER-SAY' that the temperature hike was never to happen. The water situation is to stay only determined by location of the fresh water, and its use by man. America's population expansion by 2015 will cost 80 to 100 billion dollars to overhaul. That on top of the the current rate of usage the the cost of sanitation is 20 billion dollars annually. Building the reservoirs need to hold the water, "several hundred billions dollars." Finally the U.S will need non-potable water recycling plants. plus piping systems to spare enough water to make the plan possible. These plans will run into the hundreds of billions to enact. The plans will have to be in place by 2015 to be less then a decade ahead of the next shortage of water, and the next phase of expansion.
ALMOST two years ago the signs of a failing power grid appeared with a massive power outage. It produced a blackout in parts of the northeastern United States and eastern Canada on August 14, 2003. It was the largest blackout in North American history. It affected an estimated 10 million people in Ontario, Canada (about one-third of the population of Canada) and 40 million people in eight U.S. states (about one-seventh of the population of the U.S.). Estimated financial losses related to the outage were put at $6 billion. The number of people affected in the United States and Canada was 50,000,000 over an area of 24,086 square kilometers.
DURING the last four years power transmission has increased by 400%. Power loss and incomplete transactions of power have increased fivefold. By 2015 the nations power needs are expected to double. Industry insiders estimate that an investments of some $56 billion during the present decade is need merely to maintain transmission adequacy at current levels. The cost of just maintaining power over the next 10 years is going to be anywhere from 65 to 100 billion dollars.
Last but not least of the big three is mass-transit. If you have driven into any large city you know that there is a traffic congestion problem here in America. The cost of modernizing mass-transit will be higher then any other problem America faces. There so much involved with making an effective replacement for today's dated roadways. The expenditures would start with removing and fixing power and utilities that run underneath the city streets. Then civil engineers will have to draw and plan out the new systems for each city. Road will have to be moved. Bridges would have to be built. Highways from coast to coast would have to be widened. New techniques will have to be developed, and finally every one along the way will have to get paid for their days work. The amount of money this will take is higher then any other price we'll have to pay in the coming years.
I have to ask the Question how in the name HEAVEN can America pay these costs. We are out of money; the boarders are being flooded, and the school system needs an over haul. Simple logic states something will have to give. At the current rate America expenditures are at 2,156 trillion dallors, "including capital Expenditures" while our revenues are at 1.782 trillion dallors year. Who's going to stand up for the future generations of Amercans?
