hi guys,
i have recently done a project in goegraphy about wether global warming realy exists or not and thought i might as well post a chapter of it on here. so here it goes

Causes

Global warming is caused by many things including: green house gases; littering and land fills; cows, producing methane; the burning of fossil fuels; carbon emissions; and deforestation.
I will first start with green house gases green house gases are a cause of global warming, as they get trapped in the atmosphere, let heat and sunlight in but then don't let heat out again so the heat is constantly in the atmosphere, this is a bad thing because it is causing the planets temperature to rise which is causing the polar ice caps to melt. Because the polar ice caps are melting the water level is rising so by 2050 half
of the UK will be under water.
Another cause of global warming, as I said is littering and land fills.
This is because the rubbish that we produce goes into a land fill site, where it is left to rot, the rotting waist then produces a gas called methane, this is a poisonous gas that is partly to blame for the hole in the ozone layer. This is then let into the atmosphere where it damages the ozone layer which then
lets in more of the heat and harmful UV rays from the sun into the atmosphere. As a consequence to this the planet's temperature is
again rising.
Nature has its part to play in global warming too, animals such as cows, who eat a lot of grass, create methane when they pass wind and poo, as I mentioned above methane is a very harmful gas to humans and the environment, but there is nothing we can do about the cows diet so this is one of natures problem and we can't solve it no matter how hard we try.
Burning fossil fuels is another cause of global warming. We dig and mine for these products which produces carbon emissions, then we produce more carbon emissions when we transport them back to the factory and when were at the factory the machines that clean the fossil fuels create carbon. After all that, when the fossil fuels are burned they again, create carbon emissions.
Carbon is produced by the burning fossil fuels, they are burned in: cars, petrol; in coal fires; and natural gases. All these ways of burning fossil fuels are all use by humans, but these energy resources are running low and are bad for the environment.
Deforestation is
a cause of global
warming as they use up the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, they do this during photosynthesis. This is when a plant uses carbon dioxide and sunlight to produce glucose to feed the plant. As the trees use up some of the carbon dioxide there is not as much in the atmosphere but as lots of trees are being chopped down there are not as many leaves that can photosynthesize – therefore there is more carbon dioxide in the air around us and as I mentioned before carbon dioxide contributes to the green house effect.

i got a 7B for the overall project and for those of you who dont know what that means, it is GCSE standered (apparently)
