History of Football (1930 to 2008

Football also known as soccer was created In England and has grown into the biggest sport on the planet. No other sport can compare to it in terms of popularity and player participation. The Fifa World Cup has more viewers worldwide than the olympics and It is the worlds most important sporting event.

Football is not popular in third world nations like America, and so therefore AMERICA SUCKS!

Actually, football (or soccer) is presumed to have been patterned after an American Indian game called pasuckuakohowog, though there are some stories telling of a similar game played (by the Celts), using an enemy's skull for a ball.
The game as is and the rules for same were adopted in England in 1863.
Baiting and/or insulting others based on racial, ethnic, or national bias is extremely repugnant and should be eschewed by rational individuals and those possessing actual information and/or informed opinions.
Therefore, the inescapable conclusion is that Zensati appears to be a craven poltroon and his opinions fit wonderfully inside a litter box where they can be covered in similar detritus.

    The 1930's

The first ever world Cup was held In Uruguay In 1930. The world was in a financial crisis at the time due to the infamous wall street crash. Because regular Jet travel was still far off in the future most of the European Nations refused to turn up for the event.

The home nation Uruguay were the favorites to win the tournament. Uruguay eventually reached the final which was held in Montevideo, and they crushed Argentina 4-2. Uruguay had established themselves as the first ever world Champions.

In the 30's Fascism was on the rise, And the great depression was causing greif. Fifa decided to encourage fascism by allowing Italy to host the 1934 world cup, Italy at this time was ruled by the ridiculous Mussolini, a fascist clownish dictator who would later go on to join forces with the Nazis.

Italy were the favorites to win this World Cup and they played well to reach the final. In the final match Italy beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 But the tournament had been corrupt and manipulated by Mussolini.

As the 30's progressed, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party took power in Germany and the Spanish Civil War began. The 1938 World Cup was held In France. The final of this tournament was contested by Italy and Hungary, And Italy smashed Hungary with a 4-2 result. Italy had won their second World Cup. In Europe World War 2 was about to begin.

    Leonidas Da Silva

Probably the greatest player of this decade was the Brazilian centre Forward Leonidas Da Silva. Leonidas was born 11.11.1910 and played for clubs such as Havanesa, Barroso, Sul Americano, Sirio Libanes, Bomsucesso, Nacional, Vasco da Gama, Botafogo, Flamengo, and Sao paolo. He played 23 games for Brazil and he is credited with inventing the overhead bicycle kick.

Leonidas was the topscorer in the 1938 world Cup where he scored a total of 8 goals.

What the Celts did was use a lump of a stick and a stone in battle. They'd throw the stone in the air and use the stick to smash it at their enemies' heads. This later evolved into the Irish sport "Hurling". The victorious group would then celebrate after battle by playing a game. They'd kick the decapitated heads of their enemies into a goal, which later became Ireland's national sport "Gaelic".

Thanks, Sam..I had always thought that "hurling" was the eventual outcome of that other famous Irish sport "drinking heavily".
