    Query

I understand that NaNo can help with writer's block, but when I sit down to write. I'm lucky if I even get a few sentences out. Or maybe two or three paragraphs before it is just gone. I can force more. I was doing ok on a story that I was working on until I realized that I had to go back and fix more than half of it and back up the storyline by a lot just to fix it. It was like all my motivation just wilted and I had no idea how to go about fixing the story. I don't know how to get out of this funk. I can help my mother with her story, give her plot ideas and character ideas. Whatever. I can do that, but whenever I sit down to actually write anything.... Nothing. I don't think NaNo would really help me, not right now, maybe in the future if I can get passed this. Are there any ideas? Anyone that's gone through the same thing? I haven't been able to get my mind to focus on anything for long. I'm always thinking about chores that need to be done, or other types of work. *od's on ginko boloba* lol

Chores never sounded so good as when we're forcing ourselves to write. *grin*

I have the same problem. For me, it's a little bit of a 'fear of failure' internal shut-off valve (You can't fail at writing if you don't write, right?), as well as lack of focus. Music (voiceless movie soundtracks) helps. Picking the right time of day or night helps too. So does setting myself up to write ahead of time, as in a clean desk, a mug of coffee, a bottle of cold water, a small bowl of non-sticky snacks like dry Frosted Mini-Wheats or carrot sticks, and even going for a pre-write walk to clear my head.

    Hope some of that helps.
