It's just done with code wrapped around the text.
Or the simple way (now that we have vB) is to just bold the text you want. The percent thing is just something we do ourselves.
There is also a NaNo reportcard that'll calculate everything for you. All you have to do is download it. If that site doesn't work, search for it on NaNo..there are several different places to get it from. I used it last year...worked well.
