Conversation Between Steerpike and Tiamat10

  1. Wildhoney is the album where Tiamat moves away from the death metal sound. It's a good one. I like Opeth - seen those guys four or five times. Therion and Nightwish are cool. Also, old Theatre of Tragedy (Velvet Darkness They Fear Album), an interesting mix of death vocals, pretty female vocals, and a variety of instruments, with all the lyrics sung as a dialogue between the two vocalists in Elizabethan English
  2. I think I've heard of that band before but never listened to any of their stuff. I'm not a big fan of death metal though. I tend to go for more mild versions of it, with other elements mixed in. Therion, some Nightwish, some Cradle of Filth, some Opeth, and such. Though from the way you describe their newer stuff, I may have to check it out.
  3. Thanks, Tiamat. I thought it was probably the mythological reference. I enjoy mythology quite a bit. It is also the name of one of my favorite bands from Sweden, which started as a death metal band, then went through a more mellow phase with touches of pink floyd, and then firmly into a kind of goth rock. Their last CD was a combination of all of these, which was interesting.
  4. Mythological reference. I've got a thing for dragons and I like the myth that the goddess of chaos transformed herself into a dragon to avenge her lover. Kudos to you for knowing it though, since most people assume it's a Final Fantasy reference.
  5. Is the name a reference to the band Tiamat, or the mythological figure? (or both?)
