haha i will pardon it it seems my patience and reviewing has paid of either way though as lately i've had a fair few reviews on my work.

yep, therein lies the problem with any creative subject, be it literature, music, art, film, anything; it all relies on opinion. but still, ultimately, i'd prefer a negative critique telling me that i should do it 'their' way than no critique at all, because ultimately it's me that decides whether or not i want to use that technique. usually most critique is experience based, and there is no point being a storyteller if there is no one to tell the story to. the reader knows what they like and it's always worth hearing what they have to say i think. you shouldn't be precious about your work, but you do need a thick skin because as you say, some people are narrow minded and assume that your story is written for them personally. as long as you can justify the flaws pointed out to you - a purposeful grammar mistake, or a seemingly irrelevant piece of information and so on - then you're right.

ah fair play, you live pretty near me then. i'm in aber at the moment for uni, but from cardiff originally, been up gower way lots of times. yeah it looks like you've put a lot of work into your story, keep it up! i've thought about putting the story i'm writing now up but don't know how much good it'll do, i've had plenty of views on other stuff i put up here but no comments so far save one that told me my title was already a book. ah well, patience is a virtue eh. jon
