  1. Take care, friends I've made in my time here at WF. I won't be much of a presence anymore as I don't like what the site has become, but you may be able to catch me haunting the Book Barn at Something Awful forums.

    All the best

There's no end to the "fetch my crap from the cave of wonders" nonsense. Even 'miscellaneous objective' makes me think, "Why bother? A thank you and some gold" That's not very interesting to me. The people of Skyrim are the most forgetful I've ever come across in a game, and I felt very little for helping 'em.

The world doesn't grab me. Outside of the main story, which is actually the best in the series, I can't remember a moment where I thought "wow". It just seems so serious. Two or three silly quests along the way don't soften that shell.

I remember at least ten moments in Oblivion/Fallout 3 that made my mouth dry up. F3 is set in a damn wasteland and has more character than Skyrim. I was utterly bored to tears by the end, even letting out deep groans when yet another dragon attacked. Really? After a fast-travel? AGAIN?

Good game, but not a classic, and far from a 10. I wish I liked it as much as you

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some fun in Saints Row.

No, it hasn't lived up to my expectations, sadly. The quest variety is very poor I think. The world is amazing but very harsh -- it's like going from Elizabethan (Oblivion) to medieval (Skyrim). I think I prefer the warm, charming places and people of Cyrodiil. Everyone in Skyrim seems to have a big chip on their shoulder; I just haven't found the experience very pleasant. Even Fallout 3 had a playfulness to it.

I know already I won't be playing it again for a long while. 7/10 for me.

Technically it's better in every single way, but the actual quests and characters and places just lack something. Markarth is beautiful but dead . . . much like the game, I'd say. It's probably more "not what I wanted" than bad.

It actually hurts when you're waiting for something interesting to happen and it never comes. Ah well, I'm over it.

Cool idea there; I'm going to be a totally evil Dark Elf with a hint of necromancy on my second playthrough, definitely. I've never been a bad guy in an RPG, but I have the urge to here. I'll never be an Orc, I've always preferred the sneakier races.

I called my Argonian dude Draco Samael which sounds utterly evil even though he's not. I called my Fallout 3 and NV dudes Red Harkness. It took me an hour to come up with both. Don't know why I'm telling you this, lol.

Loving the Scandinavian accents in Skyrim. I can't wait for them to say words with the letter 'L' in them.

I'm not a spoiler-type person, don't worry. I'm playing as an Argonian thief/mage at the moment.

Enjoy your time with it man .

Nah, I'm not even going to look at the reviews . I got my copy today for some reason. 8 hours in so far . . . and I've only completed two quests, lol.

Your current avatar is the only way I could ever find Harry Potter interesting. And delicious.

Such a beautiful video, really touching. The song doesn't sound like it's by Jeremy Soule to me for some reason -- at least, not in the same vein as his previous work. Maybe Skyrim's score is going to be a bit more simplistic? Can't wait.

Uncharted is okay. It has incredible visuals and the characters are very, very loveable; it's an Indiana Jones game really. Its problems lie solely within the gameplay, which is boring as hell (IMO). Thanks for the link bud .

Encountering a Psychopath

by caelum on 07-23-2011 at 08:15 AM

Kind of a long story, but I'll try to shorten it up.

My brother's close friend was in a bad car accident a few weeks ago. He needed surgery for a broken pelvis, broken femur, plastic surgery on his face, and has been in an induced coma for a week. It's been a difficult time, especially for my brother. When me and him finally saw him in the hospital bed with tubes sticking out everywhere, it hit us pretty hard. The friend has always been close to the family and lived with us for

Nightmare Situation

by caelum on 10-09-2010 at 07:54 AM
Wow, I just had a bit of a scary situation. Like actual fear scary. It has to do with dark and damp enclosed spaces. Namely my crawlspace.

My crawlspace floods constantly. There's some kind of leak in the retaining wall, I don't really care, I don't plan on fixing it cause I'm not going to be living here long. The flooding happens gradually. If I don't drain the crawlspace for a month there'll be a foot of water. Over the months I've bought sump-pumps to deal with it and have

The Wanderer

by caelum on 09-03-2010 at 12:57 AM
The shield and helm but underwhelm
The power of my blow
They bend and break beside the lake
Around the fallen foe

The foe who fought but who had not
The power to survive
For every foe who fought me so
Is not today alive

From South to North I've traveled forth
And every place I came
I left so that each bird and bat
Heard rumour of my name

The greatest beast from out the East
I hunted through the snow

Captain Coufoufle Versus the Narwhales

by caelum on 05-19-2010 at 05:55 AM
"Mon Capitaine!" Gunnery Sergeant Roi screamed. "Zey 'ave pierced ze 'ull!"
"Sacre bleau!" Captain Coufoufle screamed.

On the deck of his mighty man-of-war,
Le Framberge, Captain Coufoufle heatedly directed his crew in combat. They were engaged in a naval clash with the great Eskimo pirate, Walrus Flipper Splashing, and his narwhale riders. Five manned narwhales attacked the sailed warship from all sides.
