Lazarus

Death is on the telephone
He told me that you had gone home
Said he sent you there earlier today

Words are lost, not to be found
The radio, the single sound
It seems that I just don’t know what to say

Wishing Lazarus had been your name

The church bells they all ring aloud
Another brother in the ground
To live to die so young is such a shame

Your mother grieves now to the clouds
Begging you to come back down
Asking God why it had to be this way?

Wishing Lazarus had been your name

And although you’re in a better place, this stone cannot replace your face
And if by some amazing grace, we’ll see you again another day
Another day . . .

Death is on the telephone
He told me that you made it home
But still this world just feels so dull and grey

And it seems that we all just feel the same
Wishing Lazarus had been your name
Wishing Lazarus had been your name

Well, I'm glad that I got interested in the name Lazarus (wondering why so many songs were about some dude called it) and looked it up a while ago, otherwise I'd be wtfing right now. xD

Really, it's a pretty decent piece (if coupled with the right music. This is NOT a ballad.), the rhymes are, admittedly a little forced, but again, with the right rhythm you wouldn't notice. I like it. I do ^^
