"Tears" - In memory of my late grandpa.
My grandpa passed away early this morning, and this song is for him. I visited him yesterday, as he was dying, and the lyrics just came to me. So, here it is...
Tears
The halls like marble, sheets of ice
Smells like death eaten by mice
So hungry now
Labored breathing, shuddering hands
Strange new faces like distant lands
So blurry now
[Chorus]
The tears come in the form of rain
The sky is crying for us again
Keep your words and keep your fears
The silence hurts my fragile ears
Memories lurk in the doorway
We don't really know what to do
But I hope you can hear me, because I know
That the tears are falling for you
The trash can is full of runny noses
Dripping eyes and crumbling roses
So long gone now
The bedsheets rumpled, pillow all wrong
The chairs are scattered, one face is calm
So calm now
[Chorus]
The tears come in the form of rain
The sky is crying for us again
Keep your words and keep your fears
The silence hurts my fragile ears
Memories lurk in the doorway
We don't really know what to do
But I hope you can hear me, because I know
That the tears are falling for you
Ashes ashes we all fall down
Heads softly drooping to the ground
So saddened now
Machines noisily pumping air
Old hands stroking snow-white hair
So peaceful now
[Chorus]
The tears come in the form of rain
The sky is crying for us again
Keep your words and keep your fears
The silence hurts my fragile ears
Memories lurk in the doorway
We don't really know what to do
But I hope you can hear me, because I know
That the tears are falling for you
Oh, the tears are falling for you
The tears...
They're falling for you.
Edit: Just realized I wrote "form" as "for". oops.
