AIN'T IT STRANGE

AIN'T IT STRANGE

Lookin' in a pawn shop window
He sees the ring he gave her on their weddin' day
That was a long, long time ago
He turns and slowly starts to walk away
Then he stops and turns around
Walks in and buys that little weddin' band
She was the only girl he ever loved
When he placed that golden ring upon her hand

CHORUS
Ain't it strange
How some feelin's never really go away
Ain't it strange
A love he thought was dead
Should come floodin' back this way
Back to stay

He walks out of the pawn shop
With the ring held tightly in his hand
If this is all he has of her
His heart will simply have to understand
They were to young to know
How bittersweet, a love can sometimes be
Now all that's left is a golden ring
A tear, and an old man's memory

CHORUS
Ain't it strange
How some feelin's never really go away
Ain't it strange
A love he thought was dead
Should come floodin' back this way
Back to stay

I love those lines! It is so real to the way this kind of emotion feels.

Other than that, I would say I've read these type of lyrics time and again, there are so many broken love songs out there; however, you gave yours a realism that I do appreciate. Keep it up, I would like to read more.

I have always enjoyed reading song lyrics.

Chimchimski, Sometimes lines have a life of their own. Most of my songs are on the lighter side, although I do like the second verse of SWEET TENDER LIES.
Thank you for your feed back

Chimchimski is right--I thought I had heard this one before but then you did that subtle something that made it your own. My heart aches for that guy.

Someone once told me, never write songs about old people, know one wants to hear their stories. How can we not listen?
