Need Lyrics ASAP
I have a project I'm working on that requires a song. I can write the song, but I need lyrics. Please let me know if you're interested, and what kind of arrangment works for you.
It's a simple Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Chorus format. The topic is losing weight and getting in shape. I have the general idea for all verses.
I need the lyrics fairly quickly.
You can email me at rick@jsventures.com.
Thanks

I think he means he'll write the music to accompany the lyrics.

Do you have a melody worked out? (Getting the melody first is the best way to go.)
Is it upbeat or slow?
What genre of music do you want this song? (country, rock, rap, blues, ....disco? lol)
What style of lyrics do you want? (funny, reflective, emo)
Do you want something that is open-ended or with closure? Happy or sad ending? Hopeful or despairing?
I'm only asking because there are so many paths a song can take.
A sample of my own is here. If you are interested in collaborating, let me know. I have done country, rock, blues with humor, angst, etc.... and am always willing to work with new people regardless of age, race, religion, gender, experience, favorite pizza toppings...

Hm. The guy said to email him. Didn't say anything about responding to this thread. Maybe he's not gonna come back here.

yeah...that defeats the purpose, then, doesn't it? joining to say email me? kind of a waste of time...

I won't help someone that won't take the investment of time to speak to everyone. I may not be the best guy to help him, but if he posts here then the appropriate person may find this post.

Okay. I'm sorry. I missed something in the great scheme of things. How is it a waste of your time for him to join a forum Where Writers Hang Out to post a need, and asking for people to email him? As a copywriter, I've done similar things. I go to forums and sites and give people the opportunity to respond to me with their submissions. They can choose to, or not to. That's all. He made a solicitation. I emailed him, according to his instructions. I received his reply. No problem.
This is a text-based forum, with pictures attached. It is not meant for songwriting. He knows lyricists hang out here and that's what he needs. We can't write a complete song on this forum-it's impossible. We can, however, exchange sound files via email, et al.
And what's up with the attitude?
thamior : " I won't help someone that won't take the investment of time to speak to everyone. [ Who else? He spoke to the people on this forum, didn't he?] I may not be the best guy to help him, [How will you know if you don't contact him?] but if he posts here then the appropriate person may find this post. If I turned my back on someone in need just because I didn't feel they meet MY criteria of a proper solicitation, that wouldn't make me look very good, and I would miss some good opportunities both to help someone else and to learn something new.
{Just a note: A very important thing I learned in school... read the instructions first and follow them exactly. That's how to get an 'A'.)

Because, this forum is not meant for solicitations. That's the end all be all of it Jolly, I did not attack him. So end your rant now, because you're not going to win. I don't have an attitude. But I'm here to critique and be critiqued not deal with useless posts that push good lyrics down where the person doesn't even have the decency to at least respond to the thread instead of taking things to e-mail. Perhaps I don't want him to have my e-mail?

Clearly not, there are no winners in this sort of thing.
Oh, and Mystery. You offered nothing to this thread, you're just a vulture out to get blood, so crawl back to your cave and sit on your butt again, there's no need for you to troll here.

http://www.writingforums.com/faq.php...and_guidelines
advertising - Definitions from Dictionary.com
Look here and you will see that this forum does not allow advertisement and if you look at the definitions, not all (but it only needs to be one) but a few of the definitions fit what has happened here.
Now, ultimately, it's not some blatant form of it, and if he would continue to respond here, or contribute to the forum in some way, then I'm sure many would have been more forgiving. But he's just another one of the post and run posters it seems, and they in no way add to writingforums.
THAT is why I responded the way I did. I need no justification, read the rules, and stop needlessly joining in and attacking people.
