Just Like That

Heads turn as she walks through the door,
Dance floor hottie--can't ask for more;
Floor-length dress, swirls, no tease,
Makin' the big boys shake at the knees.
She takes center-stage, grabs the attention,
Of any other girl there ain't no mention;
All eyes turned towards her, locked-on tight,
It'll be this way for the rest of the night.

He walks in slowly, shoes too big,
Tie real straight, hair plastered like a wig;
He looks around, an insider--not quite--
He settles in for a very long night.
Lookin' around his eye scans the crowd,
He sees her in the middle, light and beautiful--a cloud.
His throat turns dry, he brushes at a gnat
And then it happens: just like that.

Loosen up, don't wind yourself up tight,
'Cause it can happen anytime this night;
Keep on your toes, ready like a cat,
'Cause it can happen: just like that.

She ducks and weaves, this girl's got moves,
Stand back, admire, and watch as she grooves;
Life of the party, she's real hot,
Man, ain't nothin' can make this girl stop!
Off at the edge, his palms all sweaty,
He swallows hard, wonders if her name's Betty.
He moves up to the edge of the crowd,
Lights flashin' real bright, the music so loud.

She whirls once, the crowd flashes by,
She whirls again and he catches her eye;
She stops her gyrations, wild and free;
And he wonders, Is she lookin' at me?
She looks closely, the crowd begins to turn,
Wonderin' what the pause is--man, they about to learn;
He steels himself like a batter at bat
And then it happens: just like that.

Loosen up, don't wind yourself up tight,
'Cause it can happen anytime this night;
Keep on your toes, ready like a cat,
'Cause it can happen: just like that.

He watches her pause and sees her stare,
Wonders if somethin's up with his hair;
Unsure why he walks forward, the crowd parts,
Tryin' to figure out what's about to start.
Se sees him comin', makes no move to flee,
She knows who he's lookin' at: me, me, me!
She plays it cool, the picture of coy,
Yeah, she knows how to play, lead on, tease a boy.

His hands still sweaty, he wipes 'em on his pants,
Quashes his fears, the doubts, I can'ts;
And then she's in front of him: an angel in white,
And here's the big moment of this whole entire night.
On his lips is the question he's dyin' to ask,
Just put it in the open, a monumental task;
He knows he's gotta take his fears to the mat
And then it happens: just like that.

Loosen up, don't wind yourself up tight,
'Cause it can happen anytime this night;
Keep on your toes, ready like a cat,
'Cause it can happen: just like that.

Well he asked his question, did his task
And now he knows her face is no mask;
Across her face is a great big smile,
You could see that thing if you was off a mile.
And now he's in the arms of an angel,
Floatin' in a sea of sequins and spangles,
Riding a wave of love-struck bliss,
Man, he didn't know anythin' felt as good as this!

The lights are flashin', his blood starts to pound,
The rhythm is electric, their feet hit the ground;
A swift one-two and the music starts to fade,
A closing of this moment that was in heaven made.
The music stops, this girl, he's gonna miss,
She says see you tomorrow, means it, swoops in for a kiss;
He's on fire with love, her too, they know where it's at
'Cause they both know it happened: just like that.

Loosen up, don't wind yourself up tight,
'Cause it can happen anytime this night;
Keep on your toes, your chance don't miss,
'Cause it can happen: just like this!

This one line is a classic example of forced rhyme and makes the whole piece come across as tacky. I dont mean to sound horrid, but i really think that this lacks in effort and structure and if written with a less cliche standard it could be something much better than it is. I like the storyline behind this, but i think you could do alot better with this.
