Echo of Nightfall

Note: This is the first song I've ever written, so please give me constructive criticism.

In the midst of shadow
Where there should exist light
Songs of trapped souls echo
In the mists of night

The echo of nightfall
Sings unto the bright day
As a phoenix calls
As it spews its fiery spray

Wolves in sheep's clothing
Pillage dreams of light
Through the night found roving
Spreading shadow and fright

The echo of nightfall
Calls from within its cell
Silenced in a ghastly brawl
With dark creatures fell

Cast away the veil of shadows
Delight in the oncoming of light
Creatures creeping in dark hallows
Flee shrieking in spite

The echo of nightfall
Rejoices to the light
Having had courage afterall
To take freedom with a fight

The echo of nightfall
Becomes a melody of daybreak
No longer does justice stall
To bring order to those at stake

Nighfall releases its shadowed hold
On all the light and life
Once held prisoner in the dark and cold
Overcome in terrible strife

The echo of nightfall

The song of shadows

Praise to the sky of night

Worship of the stars

The melody of daybreak

Echo in the light of day

Thanksgiving for pure love and hope

All hail the purity of the sunlight

The echo of nightfall

The melody of daybreak

I was going for more of a nocturne/opera type thing, hence the title and the ABAB rhyme meter. The inspiration was the Phantom of the Opera.
