Run Away From Here (...and don't look back)

This place.
Is no longer safe...
This place.
Somewhere only we once...knew.
It's ruined...(ruined)
Ruined...(ruined)
Beyond our memories...now.

(chorus)
This place! (this place)
This place we called a home! (no more!)
This place we called a life! (has died!)
This place we used to live within... (gone)
This place! (this place!)
That place we called a home! (no more!)
This place we called a life! (has died!)
This place we used to live wthin... (gone)
So run...
Run... (run)
Run! (run)
RUN! (RUN!)
Run away from here! (...and don't look back...)

This place...
Remember long ago,
You sprained your ankle out back. (this place)
Remember long ago,
When we caught the mailbox on fire. (this place)
I don't want to forget these memories.
I don't want to see you go.
I don't want to feel these dreaded feelings...
...when I have to let you go!

(chorus)

I came home.
I came home that day.
I came home to see.
What had happened to our life.
I came home... (home)
I came home to uncover life.
I came home,
To find it all in shreds.
I came home...home...home.
...and everything I once knew.
...everything I once loved.
...everything I once grasped,
came crashing to the floor.
All these years I never knew.
All these things they did to you.
I found you all tied up.
In the basement and locked up.
Now I know why they loved you more...
They kept your mouth shut behind the downstairs door.
I never knew...
How could I have guessed.
So what could I do?
But tell you.
...to run away from here.
...and not to look back.

(chorus)
(chorus/faded)

Initially, I thought the repetition was too much, but after several re-reads and given how powerful the message is, plus the delivery in the last verse, I changed my mind.

It's quite a gutting piece, very evocative and reads as really wistful until the last.
