Look At Me
Look At Me
©2005 Michael Bowers
I hear the pain in your voice
And it shows in your eyes
The man you thought you could trust
Has been telling you lies
He said you were his only
This has fooled you for years
That he's had a secret lover
And she's causing your tears
Girl take a look at me
I’ve been here, I hope you can see
Now that he's gone, and you’re totally free
Close your eyes to the past, and look at me
Look at me to lean on
I’ll help relieve your pain
Don’t let this hurt consume you
And make you go insane
It’s time to trust your heart
Live the life you desire
What I can offer to you
Is a man you’ll admire
Girl take a look at me
I’ve been here, I hope you can see
Now that he's gone, and you’re totally free
Close your eyes to the past, and look at me
Telling you before how I felt would have been wrong
Knowing my feelings then didn’t belong……so
Girl take a look at me
I’ve been here, I hope you can see
Now that he's gone, and you’re totally free
Close your eyes to the past, and look at me

I really liked this song. The only thing that could improve it, would be to change this verse slightly
Quote:
Look at me to lean on
I’ll help relieve your pain
Don’t let this hurt consume you
And make you go insane
|
I think the 1st line sounds better if you said
'Look to me to lean on' instead of 'look at me to lean on'. I just think it was a better flow and makes more sense if it was changed.
Great write!

I liked it all! Sounds like something Jesse McCartney would sing! (L)--oh, and that doesn't mean loser, it's the MSNM symbol for "love"

The pattern's a little wobbly in places. It'd be difficult to set to music and sing in a consistent rhythm.
Though you've captured the feeling I think you were going for, the theme, to me, is just ick. Rebound lover, scooping up the hurting woman. Low, man. Low.
Still, good emotion.
